Touch a Truck!

Our full morning of activities continued with Touch a Truck, a fundraiser for a local playground wherein children have the opportunity to climb in and around fire trucks, ambulances, and buses. Funniest moment: while waiting to board the school bus shuttle to take us from remote parking, we were surrounded by 2 toddlers who were crying in fear at the prospect of having to ride in the school bus. I think their parents may have misjudged the appeal of this event.

Andrew liked it, but approached the experience rather solemnly, as he did the garden railway from a few weeks ago. He was more visibly excited by the dog who rode with us on the shuttle back to the car.

Early Riser

Pros: We have the whole playground to ourselves and it isn't hot and humid yet.
Cons: It's 7:00AM. Andrew has been up since 5:30.
Do you know what makes getting up at 6:30 seem awesome? Getting up at 5:30.

A Couple Recent Pics

Andrew "graduated" from his Saturday morning gym class last month, and was presented with a ribbon in a hilarious ceremony, pictured below, in which the theme music from the Olympics blared overhead. Andrew was not overly impressed with his ribbon, but at least he didn't throw it to the floor in disgust like one of his classmates.

Andrew took a shining to these mannequins in Old Navy recently. The dog mannequin got a lot of attention (and got knocked over) and he held the hand of the girl in the foreground.

At a local Fourth of July celebration Andrew was delighted by his first balloon. And very disappointed that it wasn't nearly as perky the next morning.

Valley Forge

We took advantage of the relatively nice weather yesterday before it got too hot and humid again and took Andrew out to play among the cabins, cannons, and tall grass at Valley Forge. He enjoyed all three, although after a few minutes giggling while I tickled him with the tall grass he got ticked. Only fair I suppose.

Andrew is like my cat

As detailed in the previous blog entry, Andrew is partial to water in any format. In other words, he tries to drink the water everywhere, especially if it's not in his cup. He merrily dunks his head in his water table to drink the water dripping off his face, and in his bathtub his favorite activity is now to wedge his face under the faucet so he can drink from that too. I had a cat who used to curl up in the sink bowl and drink from a faucet the same way.
