Andrew is dressing up as a monkey this Halloween. All month long we've encouraged him to try on his costume, to no avail. Therefore, we were not optimistic that we'd even get a quick snapshot of him in his costume this year.
So we were pleasantly surprised this morning when he happily donned his monkey suit to wear to his gym class, where costumes were encouraged this week.
Here is Andrew with his gym teacher.
The monkey suit stayed on for a post-gym stop at the grocery store where the little monkey bought some bananas, of course.
He also stopped by Old Navy. Hey, why not?
Back at home, out of the monkey suit for now, Andrew had some other Halloween business to attend to. He laughed hysterically as Carrie gutted his pumpkin during lunch.
And he was very interested in the carving process, which took place after his nap. Andrew "helped" using a plastic spoon and liked pushing the carved pieces out.

Yup, I'm an irresponsible dad and I have started occasionally letting Andrew have a donut on the weekend. This despite the fact that he usually throws a tantrum when I won't let him have anymore....
We all got up early enough on Saturday (no trouble for Andrew, but tougher for Mom and Dad) to head in to New Hope, PA and spent some time playing around at Bowman's Hill Wildflower Preserve. Andrew delighted in running around playing with sticks and leaves.
He also had great fun picking up little maple seeds and tossing them by the handful off a stone bridge into the stream below, watching them spiral down like little helicopters. He can't quite get the word for helicopter yet, although 'a-plane' is pretty close I suppose.
Carrie and I had to prevent him from diving off the stone bridge into the stream of course.
After the wildflower preserve, we headed in to New Hope and Andrew got to ride on the train! He was thrilled with the ride, and spent most of it as you see here making his train face--saying 'choo choo.'
Couldn't get him to smile for the whole ride of course because of 'choo choo,' but he certainly seemed to have a good time.
