Career in HVAC repair?

This morning Andrew became strangely attached to our air conditioner
manual. He insisted on bringing it along on our morning outing and
each time we got back in the car he looked around for it eagerly. I
snapped this shot of him engrossed in his manual from the front seat.

At the Zoo

I took Andrew to the zoo on Saturday and he was very excited to visit with the animals compared to past zoo trips. I don’t think anyone has ever been so delighted to watch a bunch of naked mole rats scurry around their lair.

He also got to pet a pony and a heavily pregnant goat, rode on a little train, and got up close and personal with this gorilla. The gorilla encounter was amazing – we were the only ones at the window when he strolled up and started rolling around next to the glass. Andrew kept pointing at him and pacing back and forth saying “oh no” but I think it was a happy exclamation, not a concerned one.


I took this shot because it reminded me of Andrew's first trip to the zoo. Maybe we'll come back here for an annual photo op with the polar bear.

Andrew learned how to do the big slide by himself

Which is good for Greg and me because we end up with thrown-out backs and slide-burned legs when we accompany him on this twisty little tunnel. Slides are meant for the young, clearly.

Sunday Hike

Here are a few pics from a short hike we took Sunday morning. Kudos to Greg for putting Andrew back in the baby backpack one year later and about 10 lbs heavier (Andrew, not Greg). Apparently his efforts were worth it: when we got back to the car, Andrew did not want to get out of the backpack and protested vigorously.
