We caught him!

Today was a good day for our family: we finally caught up with the ice cream man.  All summer long he has been just out of reach. 

His siren song would be audible from our deck, but he'd never drive by our house...

I cannot count the times he's driven off when we have been 25 feet away and headed in his direction... 

Once I located him after driving around the neighborhood like a stalker (or a desperate mom at the end of a long day) only to have him pull away just as we were parking our car... 

Andrew has taken it like a champ and it's become something of a joke in our household. But it made today's victory especially sweet.

Cape Cod

We had a great week on Cape Cod earlier this month.  Here was the view from our little condo complex.

Inspired by his most recent favorite Curious George book, Andrew was eager to try flying a kite.  He and Greg had a lot of fun and Greg only had to wade into the water or trespass on to the dunes 3-4 times to retrieve the kite.

Another fun highlight was Pirates Cove mini golf.  Here we see Andrew posing as Captain Morgan and me taunting myself with a fake beer.

We shamelessly went to Ben and Jerry's for lunch and the Cape Cod [Ice] Creamery for dinner:

And on our one rainy day we joined the masses at the Cape Cod Potato Chip factory (free samples - yay!) and the candlepin bowling alley:

This was Andrew's first time bowling and he was thrilled -- and pretty good!  Now we did have the gutter bumpers in place, but I kid you not he was winning for most of the frame.  Greg and I salvaged our dignity by pulling ahead by a couple points at the very end, but it was close.  Andrew's 1 mph lobs really had a way of planting themselves very effectively among the pins.
