Play time

Andrew definitely seems to enjoy spending time on his activity mat these days. He stares intently at the stuffed animals, occasionally grabs them (although still by accident I think), and certainly kicks about like a madman. This is his 'excited' mood (one of his four, the other 3 being 'quiet,' 'asleep,' and 'pissed-off'--he can transition between these with great speed).
You can really tell that his vision (or his attention) is improving--he enjoys looking at our faces and smiles back at us, will follow a rattle around, and will even watch us across the room when he's sitting in his chair.

Wake up Daddy!

It's Saturday morning and I was planning to catch up on a little sleep. However Andrew wanted to wake up and smile at me and talk to me. I guess we know who won.

So many admirers...

Andrew had a lovely visit from many callers this weekend. Here we see him enjoying some couch time with Uncle Ricky, Aunt Kate, Aunt Melinda, and Uncle Mike.

And shortly after they left, he had a visit from Steph and Sarah. First time holding an infant, for almost everybody, but Andrew survived unscathed.

In fact, now that everybody has gone, he's inconsolable. Come back visitors, and entertain him for us!

Andrew Dines Out...

...and it was a success! We went to lunch with Ricky, Kate, Mike, and Melinda at Sam's Grill up the street. Greg and I had never been there before and were surprised and amused to see "The Andrew" as a sandwich option on the menu. Particularly weird since it was pretty much the only named menu item that wasn't named Sam. Naturally we had to try it. Most people in our party either ordered or tasted "The Andrew" and it was universally agreed that it was delicious.

First Trip to the Zoo

Clearly Andrew is thrilled to be visiting the Philadelphia zoo. This was his reaction to most of the animals. Oh well, Mom was happy to get out of the house and enjoyed walking around in the reasonably nice weather (sunny, 40s) with Mike and Melinda, who are visiting from California to meet their new nephew.
PS - By the way, that's a polar bear in the back of the cage, in case you can't tell.

Andrew is a Morning Person

Here are a couple videos demonstrating how happy a baby is after a night of eating when he pleases and being cuddled back to sleep. Bleary-eyed mother not pictured. Bonus footage: Watch for the reappearance of Andrew's breakfast during his diaper change!

I want to play in the snow!

Andrew was quite excited to have Daddy home unexpectedly today. (Thanks to a light rotation, I got a snow day. It feels like I'm back in high school).

Here you can see him anxiously trying to climb over my shoulder to get out and play in the snow:

When it became apparent that it was actually a blizzard outside, and Mommy and Daddy weren't going to let him outside, he resorted to lounging forlornly on his pillow. Poor little guy.

Snow day

Andrew enjoyed his first snow storm today. For the pictures we posed him in a blanket and his extra-large fuzzy hat...

...but for most of the walk he was actually bundled up in a sling inside Greg's coat. It was apparently quite toasty in there and he spent most of the walk just sleeping.

The few people we walked past probably thought I had a very weird mass on the front of my chest.

Ready for anything

Here we see Andrew in his new red "sneakers" and cargo overalls with multiple pockets for all his personal items. The overalls have a fishing theme on one pocket, so Andrew plans to wear this to go fishing with Grandpa and Uncle Neil at Shagg Pond. (He likes to be appropriately dressed for all occasions.)

One month old!

Andrew celebrated by sitting in my lap and smiling off and on for several minutes. Reaching developmental milestones, or having a lot of gas? Based on the amount of tummy gurgling it may just be the latter...I guess time will tell!

Carrie left the apartment!

A day short of Andrew's one month birthday, I manage to get him in the stroller and 300 yards down the street to Rite Aid to do an errand on my own. A proud moment indeed.

Without Greg around to stop me -- and because it's freakin' freezing out -- I put Andrew in his fuzzy hat. I think it's a super cute little hat, but Greg has always dismissed it as ridiculously too big. I think we are both right.
