Valley Forge Mother's Day Picnic

We had a pleasant, sunny picnic at Valley Forge on Sunday, just like the Continental Army back in 1777.  Andrew insisted on riding the "lawnmower" (aka canon).  He calls everything he can climb on a lawnmower lately, and every long cylindrical object is a leaf blower.  I am holding a "leaf blower" in the bottom photo.  The child has a definite interest in landscape management.

The Petting Store

We were walking over to go grocery shopping Sunday afternoon, when Andrew started talking about wanting to see the mice ("mouses") at the store.  I became a little alarmed that he had spotted some vermin during some previous grocery trip until I realized he wanted to go to Petco, which is in the same shopping plaza.  Yes, we've used Petco as a budget stand-in for the zoo on multiple previous occasions.  But we do actually take him to the zoo as you saw in the previous post.  Anyway, Greg took Andrew to Petco while I grocery shopped in peace.  Win win.

At Petco, Andrew greeted the sleeping ferrets with the admonishment "wake up, carrots!"  And he happily recounted tales of going to "the petting store" to his stuffed animals this morning, so I guess it was a good time.
