Back at the Zoo

We enjoyed a day off today with a trip to the zoo.  A lot of the animals were pretty lively, but upon observing an unmoving elephant shrew, Andrew declared it "parked."

When we were in the petting zoo, a little girl (maybe 10 or 11 years old?) told me that Andrew looked like the little boy in the Stephen King horror movie Pet Sematary.  You decide.

While googling this picture, I learned that there is a remake in the works.  Too late to audition?

First Professional Haircut!

We took a 25 minute drive this morning to a kids hair salon.  Totally worth it.  It was far more successful than our last professional grooming attempt six months ago at a non kids place, which ended in utter failure after about 4 minutes.  Today the donut bribe worked a lot better, and Andrew got his first lollipop.  Hopefully that will make for fond memories of hair trims.

He's still a messy eater, but at least lately he likes to clean up his own crumbs.

 

Train Ride to Grammy's House

We hopped aboard an Amtrak train for visit Grammy and Gordon this weekend.  To pass the time waiting for the train we read The Little Engine That Could.  As the train pulled up Andrew was beside himself, exclaiming "I think I can I think I can!  Just like in my book!"

We had a lovely visit during which Andrew learned to blow dandelion seeds from a master gardener.  It quickly became his new favorite pastime.  Not without empathy for the weeds, he cries out "Ouch" with each puff.

Dyeing Easter Eggs

It went pretty well! No dye was spilled and only one egg was hurled to the floor.  Luckily it was hollowed out already and sustained only minor cracking.
